Tixel ® -the first and only Thermal-Mechanical Action technology for skin resurfacing.

The newest technology at Clinic 1.

Tixel® treatment for face, eyes and neck.

What is Tixel®?

A non-invasive, non-laser resurfacing device, Tixel® uses thermal-mechanical technology (aka heat and motion) to lift, tighten and rejuvenate your complexion.

Tixel® offers our clients a gentler alternative to other skin resurfacing solutions - suitable for even the most delicate skin - including the notoriously tricky undereye area.

What are the benefits of Tixel®?

·      One of a very few treatments that is safe for the skin around the eyes

·      Improves wrinkles and loose skin on the face, neck, upper and lower eyelids, acne scars, sun damage, large pores

·      Intense collagen stimulation comparable with CO2 lasers but without associated downtime

·      Non-invasive, no blood, no radiation

·      As Tixel® is not a laser there is no danger to the eyes and no need for protective eye shields

·      Minimum discomfort and downtime

·      Quick treatment time (10-30 minutes) without anaesthetic

·      Safe during pregnancy (with doctor permission)

How does Tixel® work?

Tixel® is another sort of energy treatment. But unlike radiofrequency, ultrasound or lasers – which all work in pretty complicated ways, Tixel® simply uses straightforward heat energy to create the same kind of controlled trauma as these other energy-based technologies. A small 1 cm square Titanium plate that consists of a matrix of 81 tiny pyramid-shaped pins is gently applied to the skin’s surface in a stamping pattern. The pins deliver thermal energy at very high temperature (400 degrees Celsius) in brief, precisely controlled millisecond pulses creating microchannels. These channels can stimulate collagen, elastin & hyaluronic acid improving skin quality, tone, texture, wrinkles and scarring.

What to expect after Tixel® treatment?

  • Your skin is likely to be red after heat treatment. The redness may last for 2-5 days depending on the level of intensity of the treatment.

  • Your skin will feel hot and tingling for a few hours after the treatment, because it has received a blast of heat energy. This feeling will gradually subside.

  • Your skin is likely to swell, especially if you have treatment on the skin around the eyes. Like the redness, the swelling may last for a few days.

  • Your skin will develop tiny scabs over the treated area. Avoid touching the scabs and give them time to fall off naturally.

  • If you really need to you can apply mineral makeup 2 days after the treatment.

What are the two different types of Tixel® treatment?

Semi-ablative and ablative Tixel® - The settings can be adjusted to make the treatment more or less ablative. The more ablative the deeper the treatment and the longer the healing time. Ablative treatments are used for fine lines, wrinkles, scarring and stretch marks. There are usually a few days of downtime depending on how ablative the treatment is, and we may use numbing cream.

Meso-Tixel® - This is a more superficial treatment. The micropores created by the heat provide channels, and when the topicals are applied to the skin they are able to reach into the dermis via these micro-channels. We will give you after care product to apply to the skin after the treatment. The channels remain open for 6 hours. No anaesthesia is required and there is minimal downtime.

Does it hurt? Is there a downtime?

As with any treatment, it depends on the tolerance of the individual. Some people experience discomfort while the energy is being delivered, but it is temporary and a positive sign that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Ultrasound energy is proven to be safe, causing no damage to the skin, minimal side effects, and no downtime.

How many treatments will I need?

As Tixel is a fractional device and some skin remains untreated you will need several treatments. We recommend a course of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart with a follow-up treatment after 6 to 12 months.

How long will results last?

Results can last up to 2 years. We recommend maintenance treatment every 6 to 12 months. Individual results will vary, and many patients will have combined concerns and therefore multiple treatment modalities are often recommended as there are more than one factor to often consider when addressing aging related changes. When combined with prescribed medical-grade skincare results can last longer and recovery time lessened.

You need to have 2 weeks break in between Tixel and injectable treatments like dermal filler or Botox.
